Subscriptions: How to Manage Your AccountUpdated 2 months ago

Overview

This article explains how to manage an existing subscription from your customer account, including what actions are available and how to take them.

Subscriptions are mostly self-service and can be managed directly from your account. This article focuses on how to take action, not on defining subscription rules.

The rules that govern subscription behavior—such as renewals, billing, and how changes are applied—are defined in Subscriptions: Policy + How They Work.

What You Can Manage in Your Account

Depending on your subscription and how it is configured, you may be able to manage the following subscription-level settings from your customer account.

Subscription Details

  • Skip an upcoming renewal or trigger the next renewal event sooner

  • Edit the next delivery date

  • Swap, add, or remove products in a subscription

  • Update product quantities

  • Pause or unpause a subscription

  • Cancel a subscription

Shipping Information

  • Update the shipping address associated with a subscription

Billing & Payment Information

  • Add a new payment method

  • Update billing information

  • Remove existing payment methods

Your account displays only the actions that are currently available for your specific subscription.

How Changes Work

Changes made to your account update the subscription itself.

These changes affect future renewals only, according to the subscription policy. If a renewal has already occurred and an order has been created, changes apply to the next scheduled renewal.

For full details on timing and effects, see Subscriptions: Policy + How They Work.

What You Can’t Manage From Your Account

From your customer account, you cannot:

  • Apply changes to an order that has already been created

  • Modify the outcome of a renewal after it has occurred

Order-related actions are governed by order policies and are not controlled through subscription management.

How to Skip an Upcoming Renewal

You can skip an upcoming renewal from your customer account.

The process generally involves:

  1. Logging in to your customer account

  2. Selecting the subscription you want to manage

  3. Choosing the option to skip the next scheduled renewal

  4. Confirming the skip

How to Pause a Subscription

You can pause a subscription from your customer account.

The process generally involves:

  1. Logging in to your customer account

  2. Selecting the subscription you want to manage

  3. Click "More" (icon with three dots)

  4. Choose "Pause"

  5. Confirm the pause

How to Unpause a Subscription

You can reactivate a paused subscription from your customer account.

The process generally involves:

  1. Logging in to your customer account

  2. Selecting the paused subscription

  3. Click "More" (icon with three dots)

  4. Choose "Unpause"

  5. Confirm unpausing

How to Cancel a Subscription

You can cancel a subscription from your customer account.

The process generally involves:

  1. Logging in to your customer account

  2. Selecting the subscription you want to manage

  3. Choosing the option to cancel

  4. Confirming the cancellation

Canceling a subscription affects future renewals only. For details on what cancellation does and does not affect, see Subscriptions: Policy + How They Work.
